John Eliot, 1st Earl of St Germans (September 30 1761 – September 17 1823) was a British politician.

He was born on September 30 1761 at Port Eliot, the 3rd son of Edward Craggs-Eliot, 1st Baron Eliot (July 8 1727 – February 17 1804) and his wife Catherine Elliston (1735 – February 23 1804).

John was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge, taking an M.A. in 1784. He served from 1784 to 1804 as the Tory Member of Parliament for Liskeard, Cornwall.

On February 17 1804 he succeeded to his father's title of Baron Eliot.

In 1808 he became Colonel of the East Cornwall Militia, and in 1810, Lieutenant-Colonel Commandant.

On November 28 1815, he was created the 1st Earl of St Germans. This title was held jointly with his existing title Baron Eliot. However, the title Baron Eliot / Lord Eliot has been used as a courtesy title by the Earl's eldest son, or the next in succession, since this time.

On February 16 1816 he took his seat in the House of Lords.

John married twice but without issue.

1. On September 9 1790 at St James Church, Westminster to Caroline Yorke (August 29 1765 – July 26 1818)
2. On August 19 1819 to Harriet Pole-Carew (February 9 1790 – March 4 1877).

John died November 17 1823 at Port Eliot, and was buried on november 27 at St Germans Church.
