Kazanlak

Kazanlak is a town in Rose Valley, Bulgaria.

With a population of approximately 70,000 people, it is located near the geographical centre of the country.

Local industries include:

  • Arsenal Corp., manufactures a range military equipment, including a modern version of the AK-47
  • M+S Hydraulic, hydraulic components

Local landmarks:

  • Thracian Tomb (4th century B.C), a vaulted brickwork "beehive" (tholos) tomb with painted murals representing a Thracian couple at a ritual funeral feast, a UNESCO protected World Heritage Site. The mural is memorable for its splendid horses and especially for the gesture of farewell, in which the seated couple grasp each other's wrists in a moment of tenderness and equality. The tomb is near the ancient Thracian capital of Seuthopolis .
