La Salle University

La Salle University is an institution of higher learning located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The University offers undergraduate concentrations in nearly 60 academic areas within its three schools: Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, and Nursing. Included are several new and distinctive high-tech majors like Integrated Science, Business and Technology (ISBT) and Digital Arts and Multimedia Design. The university also offers master's degrees and doctorate degrees in several courses of study.

Named for Jean-Baptiste de la Salle, the school was founded in 1863 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers. As of 2005 the school had over 6,200 students, around three quarters of which were undergraduates. Located in the northwestern Philadelphia neighborhood of Logan, the university is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church through the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

The university spawned a preparatory division that later separated from the college and became a separate high school. Today, that school is known as La Salle College High School.
