History

Frontman and vocalist, Evan Dando, formed the band in Boston in 1984 with his high school classmates Ben Deily and Jesse Peretz. Initally the band was called the Whelps, but changed to the Lemonheads before the release of its debut EP, Laughing All the Way to the Cleaners.

The band's breakthrough 1992 album, It's a Shame About Ray, featuring the hit cover of the Simon & Garfunkel track "Mrs Robinson", was co-authored by Australian songwriter Tom Morgan of the band Smudge.

Helped in a 1996 tribute album for Schoolhouse Rock creator Thomas G. Yohe , which contain remakes of many popular Schoolhouse Rock songs like Conjunction Junction, I'm Just a Bill, and Interplanet Janet.
