Luis Antonio Argüello

Luis Antonio Argüello (1784 - 1830) was California's first native-born governor. Son of José Darío Argüello , Don Luis was married to Doña María Angela Barryesa, and served as Mexican governor of Alta California from 1822-1825.

The Argüello family owned Rancho de las Pulgas, a 35,000 acre (142 km²) ranch which occupied the land of present-day San_Carlos, California. While Don Luis never lived there, after his death, his widow and children moved to it.

One of his children was José Ramon Argüello , whose wife was Soledad.
