Mast

  • A mast is a pole which holds a sail of a boat, see mast (sailing).
  • In Naval tradition, a mast (naval) is a non judicial disciplinary hearing.
  • A radio mast is a pole or lattice tower which carries an antenna or aerial. See also List of masts.
  • In agriculture, a mast is a crop of fruit or nuts (wild or cultivated) that ripen at the same time.
  • In India, 'mast' refers to a type of religious intoxication which renders the victim insensible to their surroundings and unable to communicate effectively or take care of themselves. Meher Baba studied numerous masts he collected from all over India. The breakdown of the philosopher Nietzsche may have been an example of the mast phenomenon.
