The office of Mayor of Galway, Ireland, was established in December 1484 as the result of a patent solicited by merchants of Galway from King Richard III in London. Many of Galway's Mayors have come from the Tribes of Galway.

Galway Urban District Council 1841-1937
The old city council was abolished in 1841, not to be restored until 1937.
The Modern Mayors of Galway
