Mixer

  • In audio applications a mixer is a device that sums two amplified/attenuated audio signals; and thus mixes the sound. A typical audio recording studio will have a mixing console.
  • In beverage preparation, a mixer is a drink (usually non-alcoholic) that is mixed with another (usually alcoholic) in the hope that the result is more palatable.
  • In dance, a mixer is a type of dance that encourages the participants to actively pursue new dance partners. A secondary result of this "ice breaking" maneuver is the generally increased level of enjoyment as the result of doing something unexpected.
  • In chiropractics, a mixer uses techniques other than manipulation of the spine with the hands.
  • In cooking, a mixer is an appliance used to combine ingredients.
