Pili

This article is about the Polynesian god. For the cellular organelle, see pilus.

In Polynesian mythology, Pili is the gecko-god, and was considered an ancestor of many Polynesian peoples. He is the special totem of the people of New Caledonia.

Pili in Hawaiian means "to bind" and is the name of a native grass (Heteropogon contortus) used to thatch structures.
