The Planetary Society

The Planetary Society is a large organization that has many research projects related to astronomy. It was founded in 1980 by Carl Sagan, Bruce Murray , and Louis Friedman . It is dedicated to advocate the exploration of Mars, the search for near-Earth objects, and the search for extraterrestrial life.

Projects

The Society sponsors novel and innovative projects that will seed further exploration. These projects, funded by its members – not with government support, distinguish the Society as an organization that makes it happen. The Society's current list of projects includes:
