Puerto Maldonado is a city in the southern parts of Peru. It is in the Amazon forest near a tributary of the Amazon River called the Rio Madre De Dios . The chief industries in Puerto Maldonado are: logging, gold dredging, and eco-tourism. Since Puerto Maldonado still functions as a port much of the goods and trade come from Brazil which is easier to get to by land than the small logging road that connects the city to Cusco. There is also an airport in the city.
