Robert Bateman (Canadian)

Robert Bateman OC (born May 24, 1930) is a naturalist and famous wildlife artist. He was born in Toronto, Ontario and attended the University of Toronto where he earned a degree in Geography. He subsequently taught high school for 20 years before becoming becoming a full time painter.

In 1983 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.

A secondary school in Burlington, Ontario, where he used to teach, is now named after him despite massive student and parent protests.
