Sergej Barbarez (born September 9, 1971 in Mostar, Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian football midfielder. He is currently a captain of Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team.

Barbarez spent most of his club career in Germany, where he has played for Hannover 96, Union Berlin , Hansa Rostock, Borussia Dortmund, Hamburger SV, where he has been since 2000.
