Snipe has number of meanings:
- The snipe birds;
- the object of a snipe hunt, which is a practical joke in which a victim is told they are going to hunt snipe (the birds) in an area where they are guaranteed not to be, and are then left there;
- a term used to describe a person of low character (although this is more commonly known as a guttersnipe);
- shooting a weapon at someone while hiding (what a sniper does);
- a verb used to describe a short verbal assault on someone ('The aggravating wife sniped at her husband all day long, henpecking him into submission').
- a class of racing sailboat. It is 16 ft (5 m) long, weighs 371 lb (170 kg), and has a daggerboard. The boat is sailed by two people. It has a jib and a mainsail but no spinnaker. The boat is one of the most popular racing sailboats worldwide with active fleets in many countries. National and international championships are held annually.
- A First World War bi-plane fighter known as the Sopwith Snipe.
- A number of automobiles made by Humber as the Snipe or the Super Snipe from (at least) 1930 to 1963.
