South Darfur

South Darfur (Janub Darfur) is one of the 26 wilayat or states of Sudan. It is one of the states that compose the region of Darfur. It has an area of 127,300 km2 and an estimated population of approximately 2,700,000 (2000). Nyala is the capital of the state.
