A sports agent is a person who, for a fee, procures and negotiates employment and endorsement deals for an athlete. In addition, the agent often handle public relation matter for its client. Some large sport agent companies such as IMG and Octagon, agents deal with all aspects of an athletes's finances, from investment to filing taxes.

• Mark McCormack: the main creator of the modern sports agency industry. First client was Arnold Palmer. Founded IMG.
• David Falk : clients included Michael Jordan, Alonzo Mourning, and James Lofton
• Scott Boras : baseball agent, clients include Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Beltrán, and many other stars.
• Dave Frost : was to be murdered by a hitman hired by one of his clients, Mike Danton. Another client is famous ECHL player Lance Galbraith
