Stenungsund is a Municipality in Västra Götaland County, in western Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 253.5 km². Of the total population of 20679, 10443 are male, and 10236 are female. The population density of the community is 82 inhabitants per km².

Stenungsund is a center for the petrochemical industry.
