Sterling Rohlfs was born on May 18 1887 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, the son of Charles Rohlfs and Anna Katharine Green, and the brother of Roland Rohlfs. He was a test pilot; he died in 1928 in an aeroplane accident in Toluca, Mexico.
