Steve Davis (trombonist)

Steve Davis (born in 1967) is an American jazz trombonist who plays hard bop, post-bop, and standards. He studied jazz at The Hartt School of the University of Hartford; Jackie McLean, head of the African-American music program, recommended him to Art Blakey, whose Jazz Messengers he joined in 1989. After Blakey's death, he joined the Hartt faculty in 1991.

He has also played and recorded with Avishai Cohen, Chick Corea, Freddie Hubbard, McLean, Cecil Paybe , and Michael Weiss, among many others.

He has recorded several albums as leader, including Portrait in Sound (2000).
