Steve Jones (rock musician)

Steve Jones (born September 3, 1955) is a British rock and roll guitarist and singer, best known as a guitarist for the seminal punk rock band the Sex Pistols.

Jones was born in London, England, and grew up in the Shepherd's Bush neighborhood, as did the other members of the band. He admitted he took his style of guitar-playing from Johnny Thunders of the New York Dolls.

After the Sex Pistols broke up, Jones and drummer Paul Cook started the hard rock outfit The Professionals. They recorded two albums but disbanded after a serious car accident while on tour in the US in 1981. Jones also played with Thin Lizzy, Joan Jett, Iggy Pop and had a solo career in the 1980s and early 1990s. He participated in the Sex Pistols reunions and currently resides in Los Angeles, California, where he hosts a radio show, Jonesy's Jukebox, weekday afternoons from noon to 2 p.m. (Pacific Time) on 103.1 FM.
