Scottish Storyline

The Scottish Storyline-method for teaching children (mainly) at primary school was developed by the staff of the inservice department of the Jordanhill College of Eduaction in Glasgow, now Univeity of Strathclyde . The storyline-approach focuses on the pupils' activities. By creating models and other meaningful representations of reality the pupils actively discoer how things work and start learning in a self-sufficient way. Pioneers of the approach back in the 1970s were staff tutors Steve Bell, Sallie Harkness und Fred Rendell. The approach is widely used in the Scandinavian countries and in the Netherlands.
