Stratagus is an open source real time strategy computer game engine. It runs on Linux, 32-bit Windows, BSD-UNIX, POSIX and Mac OS X systems. Stratagus is written in C and Lua is used as the configuration language. Simple DirectMedia Layer, Gzip and bzip2 are among the external libraries used.

There are few games that use the Stratagus engine. Most are still in development, but a few titles are playable, for instance Wargus, Magnant, Battle of Survival, Astroseries and Battle for Mandicor .

Gameplay for the Stratagus engine is akin to that of the Blizzard titles Warcraft 2 and Starcraft. In fact, Stratagus was inspired by the abandoned game engine project Freecraft, whose developers received a cease and desist letter from Blizzard due to its alleged similarity to Warcraft 2.
