Stuart MacGill

Stuart Charles Glyndwr MacGill is an Australian cricketer who specialises in bowling leg spin. He was born on 25 February 1971, in Mount Lawley, Perth. He also plays domestic cricket for New South Wales.

Stuart MacGill is widely perceived to be Australia's second best leg-spinner behind Shane Warne. He is best known for his huge leg-break and his useful googly. MacGill is credited to have the best strike rate of any modern legspin bowler, taking 152 wickets at 29.21 with a strike rate of around 55. He is far from sound with the bat (he averages 8.48) and is relatively ordinary in the field. He is frequently absent from the Australian side, due to the fact that the Australian selectors have frowned on the concept of fielding two leg-spinners at once.
