Subpixel rendering

Subpixel rendering is a generic term for providing an increase in LCD resolution by taking advantage of the LCD's geometry where each pixel is comprised of individual red, green and blue sub-pixel stripes. The eye can be fooled into perceiving the brightness of each of these colors as added resolution.
