Sullys Hill National Game Preserve is a National Wildlife Refuge located on the shore of Devil's Lake in Benson County, North Dakota, within the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation . It consists of 1674 acres (6.77 km2) of marshes and wooded hills which are home to 20-30 American Bison, 25-40 Rocky Mountain elk, 20-30 White-tailed deer, and a colony of Prairie dogs.
In 1904, Sullys Hill was established as a national park by Theodore Roosevelt. Congress transferred it to the management of the Fish and Wildlife Service on March 3, 1931. It was a rare case of a national park being demoted in status.
It was named after General Alfred Sully , son of painter Thomas Sully.
