Swami Shyam

Born Shyam Srivasta in Kanpur, India, Swami Shyam is the author of numerous books and pamphlets on meditation and Vedant (or Vedanta) philosophy. His followers are called Shyams and his loosely run organization is called the International Meditation Institute (IMI) or more commonly referred to as Shyamspace. Since the early 1970s he has been living at his ashram in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, India.

His mostly western followers claim that he is a 'self-realized being'.

In 2001, a large number of followers left the group after the swami was accused of sexual abuse.
