Swedish football league system

The Swedish football league system is controlled by the Swedish Fotboll Association and consist of 246 teams. The Swedish Premier League started with the 1924-1925 season. In 1959 they started to play over the summer, instead of the winter. The season starts in April and ends in November.

The system

Below shows how the current system works. For each division, its English name, Swedish name and number of clubs is given. Each division doesn't promote to the division that lie directly above them and relegates not to the divisions that lie directly below them.
