There are two notable works that go by this title.

  1. The Entertainer was a 1960 film which told the story of a failing stage performer who tried to keep his career going even as his personal life fell apart. It starred Laurence Olivier, Brenda De Banzie , Roger Livesey, Joan Plowright, Alan Bates, Daniel Massey and Albert Finney. The movie was adapted by Nigel Kneale and John Osborne from Osborne's play, and was directed by Tony Richardson. It was later nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Laurence Olivier).
  2. "The Entertainer" is also the name of a 1902 piano rag by Scott Joplin which was later used as the theme music for the 1973 motion picture, The Sting. The music was adapted for the film by Marvin Hamlisch.
