Thurles

Thurles (Irish: Durlas) is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland, situated on the River Suir, with a population of around 8,000. Thurles is linked by rail to most Irish cities via the National Rail Network. It is twinned with Bollington in England, and Salt Lake City, Utah. It is also known as the birthplace of the GAA, which was founded at Hayes's Hotel in Liberty Square in 1884.

Semple Stadium in Thurles was the site of the Féile rock festival during the 1990s.
