Torre del Mangia

The Torre del Mangia was built in 1334 and is located in Siena in the Tuscany region of Italy. The tower is the focal point of the Piazza del Campo, Siena's premier square. It is the one of the tallest non-sectarian tower in all of medieval Italy.

The Sienese survivors of the Black Plague built the small marble loggia in front of the Torre del Mangia.

The tower is visible from all parts of Siena and it is adjacent to the Gothic Palazzo Pubblico, town hall. The Torre del Mangia contains a bell and a clock was added to the tower in 1359.
