Tosa Mitsuoki

Tosa Mitsuoki (土佐 光起, Born in 1617 Sakai - Died in November 14, 1691 Kyoto)

Son of Tosa Mitsunori (1583–1638), also a painter. His original name was Tosa Fujimitsu , also called Tsuneaki. Mitsunori was a Japanese painter of the early Edo period (1603–1867) who revived the Tosa school of painting (founded in the 15th century and devoted to the Yamato-e, or paintings specializing in subject matter and techniques derived from ancient Japanese art as opposed to schools influenced by Chinese art), recapturing the title of official court artist.
