Tsesarevich

'Tsesarevich (sometimes rendered Tsarevich in English, although this is technically incorrect) was the title of the Heir Apparent to the tsars and emperors of Russia (see Tsar).

  • The following names refer to the main meaning of the word.
    • The Cesarewitch was a British handicap horse race at Newmarket, founded in 1839, and named for the Tsesarevich, who visited Britain (and who became Alexander II of Russia).
    • Russian battleship Tsesarevich (Tsessarevitch), 1901 - 1925.
