Unión del Pueblo Navarro

Unión del Pueblo Navarro or UPN (Union of the Navarrese People) is a conservative political party active in the Navarre region of Spain. It opposes Basque nationalism.

The UPN was a Navarrese splinter group of Alianza Popular. It has ruled the Navarrese government for several terms. Juan Cruz Alli was elected president of the Navarrese government for UPN, but later disagreed with the orientation the party was taking and founded another party Convergencia de Demócratas Navarros ("Convergence of Navarrese Democrats"). Later UPN joined AP's refounded successor, the People's Party, as its Navarrese branch and has similar right-wing goals including the de-emphasis of Basque language and culture along with strong anti-terror measures directed at the ETA (Basque terrorist group).
