Unite or Die

Unite or Die was an American Revolutionary War motto which was displayed with the image of a writhing snake chopped into segments, usually on a yellow background.

The Pennsylvania Journal , published by William Bradford, featured the motto and image in the years before the war. Variations of this logo were also used by Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin, and others.

The motto is recalled in the New Hampshire motto "Live free or die".
