Texas District 2 of the United States House of Representatives is a Congressional district that serves the southeast portion of the state of Texas. As of the 2000 census, District 2 represents 651,619 people. The current Representative from District 2 is Jim Turner, but he chose not to seek reelection in 2004. Ted Poe was elected as Representative in the 2004 election, defeating Nick Lampson who was previously the Representative for District 9, but ran in District 2 following redistricting.
