University of Hull Scarborough Campus

The University of Hull Scarborough Campus is a higher education institution in the North Yorkshire town of Scarborough - and (as its name suggests) a remote campus of the University of Hull.

History

The institution started life in 1947 as North Riding College, a regional centre for teacher training in the north-east of England. In 1994, the college became University College Scarborough and began offering BSc and BA degree level courses in an effort to respond to the drastic fall in demand for teacher training places that threatened it with closure in the early 1990s. The institution changed to its present name when it became a campus of the University of Hull in August 2000.

Today the university campus offers a wide range of courses across the sciences, social sciences and arts, many of these new courses taking full advantage of the richness of Scarborough's natural environment.
