In Hinduism, Vayu is a very early wind god, father of Bhima and Hanuman. Vayu is also one of the five elements (panchamahabhoota), which are earth (prthivi), water (aap), fire (agni), air (vayu), and space (akasha).
Followers of Dvaita philosophy, believe that Vayu is said to have incarnated as Madhva to teach Hindus to worship the supreme God as Vishnu and to correct the errors of Advaita philosophy.
