Verden is a town in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is the capital of the district (Kreis) of Verden. Population: 25,500.
Verden is situated at the Aller river. Verden is famous for a massacre on Lower Saxons in 782, committed by Charlemagne ("Verden's bloody trial") and for its cathedral.
