Walthamstow is an area of north-east London, England in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Wacoumstou or Wilcumestow. In more recent times it has been associated with the band East 17, a play on the location's postcode E17. It is also famous for the Walthamstow Dog Track.

Walthamstow is bordered by the River Lea to the west and Epping Forest to the east. Before the creation of the Greater London metropolitan area, it was part of the county of Essex.

The area has three museums, the William Morris Gallery, the Pump House Museum and the Vestry House Museum . Walthamstow's daily street market is claimed to be Europe's longest at 1km.
